Permit for measures under the Harbour and Waterways Act
Are you planning a measure that may affect safety, navigation or defence and preparedness interests at sea? Then you must apply for a permit.
You can apply for:
Installations (bridge, jetty/floating jetty, marine energy installation, cables/pipes/lines, quay/breakwater/wave damper, overhead line span, fish cage installation, petroleum installations)
Environmental interventions (dumping of materials, ship-to-ship transfers, blasting, dredging/excavation)
Activities (major towing operations, boat races/regattas, ship-to-ship transfers, vessel layups, seismic surveys, equipment testing)
Before you apply:
If you are undertaking an assignment to apply on behalf of someone, you need a power of attorney
If the building ground is not safe, you must be able to justify why the measure should still be carried out
If the measure conflicts with the current municipal area plan or zoning plan, you need an exemption/dispensation
Should you apply to the Norwegian Coastal Administration or the municipality?
You can apply to the Norwegian Coastal Administration if at least one of the criteria applies:
The measure is to be located wholly or partly in a fairway
The measure is located outside a fairway, but may affect safety or navigation in the main or secondary fairway
If none of the criteria apply, you must apply to the municipality instead.
